There's a reason I titled this post the way I did and it will become prevalent shortly.
Talking about the way people drive could take several posts, but I will try to narrow it down to just a handful of the worst.
I've been doing a lot of night driving for quite a few years and I've noticed that more and more people have become blind. It amazes me how many of you out there insist on driving with your lights on bright. Yes, it's dark out but the lines on the road are consistent. They don't waver nor do they disappear if your lights are on low beam.
Are you thinking that maybe there might be an animal or a person walking on the road? Sure, I can understand that, but when you approach a hill, a curve or an oncoming vehicle wouldn't it be nice if you were to turn your brights to low so others won't be blinded by your approach? Or, I don't know, maybe stay within the law?
Or how about when you're driving down the freeway? Why oh why must your lights be bright? On any given day or night on a freeway there is always traffic. If you can't see at night then you need to fix that problem. If you say "big deal, if they don't like it who cares". Well, you will if your bright lights cause someone to have an accident. So, think about how much it will cost you in the long run when all you had to do was dim your damn lights.
Turn signals. This isn't an accessory. It's not there to make your vehicle look pretty or cool. They are there for a reason. And it's the law. Use them people. Don't make everybody guess where you're going.
Doing the speed limit. Yes, I'm guilty of driving over the speed limit but I don't do it very often. However, it seems most people are in a big hurry to get somewhere that will be there at least 3 to 5 seconds later than sooner.
I absolutely hate it when someone rides my ass even when I'm driving the posted speed. Apparently, they have no regard for the speed or the person they are trying to get to go faster. They also have no regard for their own vehicle.
I have seen people drive their vehicles as if it were a weapon and if you don't get out of the way they will use it to hurt you.
Have you people ever stop to think just how expensive this weapon is? Think about it.
Red stop lights. What's that? Stop signs. What are those? And blue headlights. Blue headlights? Those should be outlawed. They're so incredibly bright and deceiving. More and more people are spending a lot of money so they can see better at night but what they aren't realizing(or maybe they are) is that these headlights can make people think that there is a police car approaching at a high rate of speed.
I have almost pulled over to the side of the road because I thought a police car was coming, till I realized it was just some jerk who can't see so they opted for blue headlights. Blue headlights? Seriously, people.
Okay, the cops/police. Come on, is it really necessary to drive fast when you're only going to a restaurant or the police station?
And you can't tell me that every cop, every day or night, is on a call that they have to rush to. I don't and I won't believe it.
Let me give you a different case where cops drive too fast. I always pass by a police substation on my way to work. And almost every night there is at least one or two vehicles that zoom by me just to turn into the station a couple of blocks from where I am on the road.
I know these are not people who are going to the station to report a crime because I've seen these vehicles numerous times. If this happened once, yeah I can understand. But this is almost every time I pass by this place.
POLICE PLEASE SLOW DOWN. By your constant speeding to get nowhere important you're giving joe citizen the right to drive like an idiot.
And you wonder why there are so many accidents?
